When is Holby City ending? BBC medical drama comes to an end
BBC One medical drama Holby City's swansong is almost upon us.
The end of Holby City is almost upon us, with reports that the final episode could air at the end of March.
The Casualty-spin-off, which has been a fixture of Tuesday night television for over two decades, was axed by the BBC back in June 2021.
For fans hoping that the decision may be reversed, it's not looking good: the on-screen Holby City crew have now been given a three-month warning to save the hospital.
So, as we will soon have to bid farewell to our favourite characters, here's everything you need to know about when we can expect the final episode, as well as what's going to unfold in the show's last moments.

When is Holby City ending?
It's being reported that Holby City's final episode will air on Tuesday, March 29th.
RadioTimes.com have reached out to the BBC for comment on this story.
Following the news that the medical drama was being axed by the BBC, Holby City's official Twitter page confirmed that the series would draw to a close in March 2022.
The account tweeted: "We’re very sorry to bring you the sad news that Holby City will come to an end in March next year, after 23 amazing years.
"We are so very grateful to all of Holby’s wonderful cast, crew, writers, producers - and to our millions of loyal viewers and fans for being part of our show."
The BBC noted in a statement: "We sometimes have to make difficult decisions to make room for new opportunities and as part of the BBC's commitment to make more programmes across the UK, we have taken the difficult decision to bring the show to a close in order to reshape the BBC's drama slate to better reflect, represent and serve all parts of the country.
“We would like to take this opportunity to thank the amazing team at BBC Studios and all the cast and crew who have been involved in the show since 1999.”
It also paid tribute to the medical drama’s run so far and expressed hopes for the show’s conclusion.
"Holby has been a stalwart with audiences, delighting millions of viewers each week and winning hundreds of awards with a compelling mix of cutting-edge medical stories and explosive personal stories,” the statement added.
"We look forward to working with the team over the coming months to ensure that when it ends, Holby goes out on a high."
Holby City spoilers – how will the soap end?
With the Holby City clan having been given a three-month warning to turn the hospital around earlier this month (January 2022), the show’s swansong is expected to revolve around a special measures storyline.
However, there will be some highs as well as the lows, with Holby City having already teased a number of surprise character returns for the show’s finale.
Holby City star Rosie Marcel recently told Digital Spy: "I can't say a lot without giving too much away, but what I will say is that the finale is going to be amazing. We're bringing back loads of old characters, which is going to be really exciting for everyone."
In addition, the show recently delivered a huge twist when it revealed that Jac Naylor’s (Marcel) condition is quickly deteriorating – and that her brain tumour is now terminal.
It remains to be seen whether Jac could be killed off or whether she’ll be part of the ending in a positive, uplifting way, and fans will have to stay tuned for more information.
While it's not yet clear exactly how the medical drama will wind up its storylines and character arcs, we certainly have some thoughts on how the show could deliver the perfect ending.
Holby City continues on Tuesdays at 8pm on BBC One. Previous episodes are available on catch-up on BBC iPlayer.
